I've been trying to find a performance (great sounding) muffler for my 86 2m6 for months now. I was interested in your reference to Dynomax so I gave them a call. According to their charts, they don't have anything that will fit the Fiero. Archie, you have any resources? Until then, I'll keep 'listening' to the movie, "BULLET". (70's Mustang vs Charger, best car audio 'ever' in a film.)

The Camaro/Firechicken muffler will fit, when shortened. I have one(not shortened) that I didn't use...if you anyone wants it. The pipe size is larger though so some adapting is necessary.
Here is the spintech, it's not installed yet but I have heard good things about it. Should be a easy install, just a tad bit bigger but the thing is built like a tank!! looks like it will last forever. May use the stock piping to cut down on the cost? not sure the price to have new ones bent.

I would love to put on a free flow dual (especially since the '88 coupe has the air dams cut for dual outlets at the factory) but there doesn't seem to be such an animal for a Tech 4.

I am in the process of putting a stk v6 dual exhaust on my 4 cyl 84SE for that same reason. I put 85GT frnt and rear facias on it and it looks wierd with only one exhaust pipe coming out the back...
Muffler? Who needs a muffler? I'm running a custom exhaust that I had built at a Local Car-X. I ported my exhaust mainfolds myself-not difficult at all, just takes time. Then had Car-X build the new system: High-Flow Cat, 2.5" Piping back to a Y-split, then finished with a pair of Pacesetter Monza dual resonator tips (in gold to match the car). It Flows. It's Loud. I Love it.
I've also looked at the exhaust system availbe through "fieroheaven" but I can't find them on the web anymore?!? They had a newly designed set of headers and a complete stainless exhaust system built by B&B (they do stuff for Porsche). Nice stuff, but can't find them anymore.

They went out of business.

I've heard some of the dual systems that eliminate the muffler and they are really loud. As in makes cops look and chase loud so you might want to consider that before buying one.
