Yall folks,
I have let my fat a$$ brake off the blinker and wiper handle getting into the car. I have a complete spare column to get parts from but I was wondering how much trouble I've got myself into. Does anyone know the easyest way to repair this?

Its not a big deal... you just push the handle in, turn it one way or the other and pull it out.

The wire is a little tricky... unplug it (thin wire, strange looking connector) and feed it through the column when pulling the lever out. Feed the new wire through the lever hole (down the upper side of the column) using mechanics wire or something to help get it straight through. Then push the new lever in and turn to lock it.

Mine's busted too...anyone got a spare?

You're in luck. Just simply pull straight out on broken piece, push in new one. If cruise control is involved, wires must be spliced - not difficult. New stalk can be had in numerous places (GM, Varygus, Dickman, junkyards, etc.).

Now, be careful!

If you dont have cruise there will be no wires in the stalk.Just like previous post said push in turn while doing so then pull it out of the column. If you do have cruise control dont cut wires to splice them. After you pull the stalk out of the column them wires you do see will be used to fish the new cable down the steering column and then plug it in where the old cable plugs into.there is I repeat no way to splice them cables together and work Besides It will take you longer to do it the wrong way and it would not work any way.and you would be stuck with a as far as I can see a useless new stalk.

Yall Folks,
Thanks for all your advise. After looking at it a little closer I noticed the plastic casing was also broken and the steele rod was broken on the very end. Oh, this makes it really hard to repair like the advise yall have suggested. For now I have used some plastic welding epoxy, roughed up the end of the steele rod and bent it forward so the bright/dim light changer will work before hitting the steering wheel. I also have the use of my blinkers but the way it broke didn't leave me the option of turning on the windshield wipers. I put the plastic o ring that is used for the wiper cleaner option to work and rain x'ed the windshield for added protection in case of rain. I left the plastic stalk and part of the broken plastic part of the switch off.

I removed the whole steering column from my spare car which has the option for cruise control which I plan on putting on when I get time. Does anyone have any advise on putting in the whole steering column while the dash is still in? I had disassembled most of the car that I took the good column out of so it came out with very little trouble. Also I woundered if all the wiring is there on the SC model and if I put the remaining equipment needed for the cruise to work, if it will?

Bump!
This weekend I replaced the steering column with the one I had removed and got my wipers back to working. The one I had removed had the option for cruise. The car I put it into does not and I could find no place to plug in the wires for that option. Apearently the main wiring harness had to be set up from the factory for cruise. Does anyone have any sugestoins as to how to apply the cruise easily?
