Okay, the other day, Ken and I went for a ride in my fiero. It's an 85GT, 2.8 4speed. After the engine warms up, the oil pressure drops to about 1/4 and when I hit the gas, it will rise to about 3/4's. There is a little bit of bearing noise but only on takeoff and when the oil pressure is low...Could my oil pump be the problem and if so, would a high volume oil pump get rid of the bearing noise???

sounds like a bearing is on its way out. I would suggest you change your oil immediately to a heavier grade of oil. I don't believe the pump is the problem the gauge readings you are describing sound normal.

"Bearing noise" most likely means rebuild time. heavier oil may help quiet it but won't prevent the inevitable. Same for high volume pump.

Well I guess I will just use a heavier grade of oil but I really only need the engine to last the rest of this summer because I plan on buying a low mileage 2.8 come fall and finish up my car by next year. Thanks for the help!
