I've found a junked fiero that I plan on removing the doors from. The shop manual section on door removal provides instructions on taking the door apart. Is there any reason that the door can't be removed by just removing the bolts that attach the hinges to the frame?

THANKS ALL. I'm just pulling the junked doors to extract the power windows and locks. Plan to give my work car its first upgrade in 14 years. Other small upgrades in planning stage.

Yep. Remove the fender to get access to the 13mm bolts from the outside, then pull the carpet back to get to a 15mm bolt from the inside. Unplug any power harnesses in the footwell and your good to go.

You may find the doors may have some small fit problems when you put them on another car. I'm sure there's a way you can adjust them, or make a way.

What Tigger said with one caution.

Make sure you support the door when removing it. It helps to have an assistant to help you carry it. It weighs about 140 lbs complete and there is no good way to grab the thing by yourself. 2 people can carry it with no problem at all.

If it's just the door you want and you're not worries about getting complete hinges out of it, just pop out the hinge pins. You'll want to remove the spring above the lower hinge pin first though, and be carefull doing it.

I had to carry a Fiero door about 300m through a junkyard with no path in the middle of winter. There was about 2.5 to 3 feet of snow. They are somewhat heavy, but mostly bulky and difficult to carry.

Hey Tweek,
You live in Brunswick? I grew up in Boothbay Harbor. Graduated from there 20years ago (boy has it been that long? WOW). I spent alot of time in Brunswick as it was the closest thing to civilization up there. Are there alot of junkyards up that way with Fieros. I need a new headliner without the sunroof hole for my new Blue 87GT and it is only about 1 1/2 hours from here in NH.

Elvira, I love Boothbay Harbor! Went on a great whale watching trip there the summer before last. Also went to Cooks at Bailey Island.

Tweek, my parents will be in Maine next Sunday for a while in East Sumner. Drop by and say hi, as my parents are now always on the lookout for Fieros. I'm sure they'll have the only black Honda Accord with MD tags. Someone owns a sweet red GT going towards Route 16 in NH.

I doubt I'll be able to get up there this summer, but next year I will. I've also got plans to leave a Fiero up there for family and when I fly up, I've got a car to drive, even better a Fiero! Now I need to find someone to take care of it!
