The camshaft will work with your 2.8 but the question should be what kind of power would it make. Bigger is not always better especially when you have a street machine with stock type heads and exhaust. I don’t know what you are planing but maybe I can help in some way here so here it goes.
I ran the numbers for you in the Dyno program to give you an idea of what kind of power curve you should get from this camshaft with ported manifolds and stock type heads.
They are,
RPM...horsepower...torque
2000...49...129
2500...66...139
3000...87...152
3500...107..161
4000...125..165
4500...139..162
5000...149..156
5500...152..145
6000...149..131
6500...139..112
Here is what the stock fiero engine power curve looks like with ported manifolds in my program for your comparison.
RPM...horsepower...torque
2000...62...164
2500...81...170
3000...102..180
3500...121..181
4000...135..177
4500...143..167
5000...145..152
5500...138..132
6000...126..110
6500...110..88
I think the Crane PowerMax H-260-2 is one of the best street cams for a 2.8/3.1/3.4 engine, especially the 2.8 if you want more top-end. The power output looks like this in a 2.8-liter engine with ported manifolds.
2000...59...155
2500...77...161
3000...98...172
3500...118..177
4000...135..178
4500...147..172
5000...155..163
5500...157..150
6000...152..133
6500...140..113
The Crane PowerMax camshaft would give you better acceleration and overall better performance than the one you are looking at for a street car.
