It appears my EGR is in trouble.... tried to deflect by pushing up on the bottom through the metal body, barely budges. Hmmm. Probably need a new one. Pulled off the little hose and a bunch of cream colored "sand" (very fine) poored out. Maybe half a thimble of the stuff. Looks clear as far as I can see down this vacuum hose, which actually isn't very far. And I couldn't feel any vacuum on this line at any point. Is this an easy off-the-shelf replacement or is it time to check the junkyards for this little hose?

Can this cause damage to the engine?

And how much should an EGR valve cost?

The vacuum hoses are discontinued. However, Rodney Dickman sells a s.s. version. The EGR valve shouldn't cost much ~$40-50. You can buy it at Napa. The Fiero store sells them for $45. Good luck!
