My radiator fan works, but doesn't come on w/ a/c, we replaced the relay, the thermostat, and some other stuff and it still doesn't work, it's an 84 my ceramic deal broke when i took it off, so i just left it off and connected the 2 wires to each other and connected them to the fan motor, since it's getting in the 90's here i needa get it to work somehow, so how do you wire a fan switch so that i can just flip it and have the fan come on, i know a few people on here have done it, but i just needa know where should i make the connections? I haven't bought a switch or anything yet but i plan on it soon. Thanks

Picture it this way: In the relay there is a coil, that when energized, switchs contact points. On the fiero, there is power applied to the coil in the relay whenever the car is on, and when you want the fan on, you ground the other side of the coil (this is what the fan switch does) and the power is switched to the fan and the fan runs. The wire going into the relay is a green w/white stripe. It needs to be grounded in order to turn the fan on. All you need to do it get a switch, hook a constant ground to one side, and the green w/white strip wire to the other. Flip the switch and the relay is grounded, thus turning on the fan. Email me if you need help, I have this stuff down pretty well, but don't explain well to others. So if you have any questions, email me or post here.

One pole of the switch gets wired and spliced in to the green wire with the white stripe under the driver's side dash close to the center console. The other pole gets grounded. If you mount the switch next to the cigarette lighter, you can ground it to the ground of the lighter itself. You're only running enough power through it to trip the fan relay, you're not powering the fan itself. You won't burn down the car.

I just did this to mine this weekend, same 2 speed fan. Here's a schematic of what I did.

Grounding the dark green w/white stripe wire triggers high speed, and the light green triggers low speed. I set mine up for high speed with the switch. I believe you can wire the switch inside the car if you can locate the wires under the dash. If you leave the manual switch on and turn the car off, the fan will automatically turn off.
