I have an 87 GT with a five speed. I need to find out what type of tansmissions were available? Isuzu or Muncie. The selector cable is shot and I am only able to get the car into 3rd or 4th gear. I need to know what transmission I have so I can order the correct cable. Thanks in advance.

I don't thing any of the V6s had Isuzu trannys, except the 4 speeds.
I have heard other people say Muncie, but I thought all the V6 5sp'd were Getrag.

Anyone know for sure?

1984, 1985, and 1986 4-spd's are Muncie's
1985 thru 1988 4-cyl 5-spd's are the Isuzu's
Late 1986 thru 1988 V-6's are Muncie Getrag's.

There was no such thing as an Isuzu 4-spd in a Fiero.
So the 87 GT has a Muncie Getrag.

Thanks Oreif. Do you happen to know which cable it is for left to right as opposed to up and down?
