I'm OK now. Phil got the right answer down the page. Thanks for looking to help.

Just got this '86 GT a few days ago. Between shifts in town the clutch pedal went to the floor with no resistance. Now it just flops when you tap it and bounces back to the top. There is absolutely no resistance. Its just a pedal with a spring. WAaa! ":^() Just whining.

This car just had a clutch replacement before I bought it. I've never owned a Fiero so I don't have a clue what happened. I checked the clutch fluid level and it's OK. I looked under the dash to see if there was something obvious but I don't know what I'm looking for that might have broken or come loose.

I was loving it for about 3 days. Can anyone tell me if this has happened to them and is it a simple fix?

Thanks,

GT Rookie

Find the V8 archie archism link on this site that tells you how to bleed the clutch and do it EXACTLY as described. If that doesn't fix it you may need master or slave rebuild . Also check the clutch lever and make sure it didn't break.

That's funny! ":^)) But at 15 I don't think it's old enough to have "that" problem. I'll try the other recommendation first.

Thanks

Sounds like possibly the pushrod that goes from the pedal to the master cylinder fell off.

And Phil has the winning answer!! You got it! I went out about an hour ago after reading about a books worth on Master Cyclinders and Slaves and Seals and Rod Length and Double Pumping the Clutch and... None of that sounded like my problem (something to look forward to I'm sure). I decided to go for the simple. Get my inflexible butt out there and get under the dash and look for something that came loose.

There it was, hiding behind the brake pedal, the rod that goes to the clutch pedal. I put it back on and searched the floor for the clip that holds it on. Its nowhere. No problem. I can make a temporary clip. This is way better then all the stuff I read about on the Archie pages 'or' "The History of the Fiero Clutch, Part One."

Thanks for all your input. I learned a lot in one day. Maybe more than I wanted to know so soon. But, I'm loving my new (only 70K mile) Fiero GT again! ZOOM ZOOM
