I have an 85 GT. While driving to work today it suddenly lost power. It would spudder indicating, to me, a fuel problem. After coasting to a stop, the engine died. On trying to start, the fuel pump would come on for a few seconds but oscillate. (Not the normal constant run for two seconds).
The engine would try to start.

By feel, the fuel relay does cycle on for the two seconds. I installed a crude pressure gage at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. I get about 10 to 15 psi, not the 40 to 50 I should be getting.

I also can't locate the fuel pump test terminal. Is it buried just forward of the engine??

Any suggestions before I drop the fuel tank to replace the pump??

I can not find any info regarding the location of the fuel pump test terminal-my guess it does not have. Sounds like you are on the correct track, fuel pressure should be 40 psi. The only step you may want to check pressure regulator. Does the pump sound normal or is it humming.

I *think* you can test the fuel pump by jumpering on the oil sending unit connector the two terminals opposite each other. The teminals are laid out like this: |_| The two that are parallel to each other are the ones to jumper. (It works on mine anyway)
