A while back I ordered a set of KYB Front/Rear struts/shocks from the Fiero Store. They list the rear part as fitting the 84-88 with the same part number (57606). I just went out this afternoon and looked at the rear of my 88 coupe and the struts look diff. The ones in the box look just like the ones on my 87 coupe. It looks to me that the spring pocket is diff on the 87 vs 88. The 87 is little on bottom gets bigger going up/ 88 same size all the way up. I was not able to reach the Fiero Shop cause it was after hours so my question is did I get the correct part. Are the Rear struts diff on the 88 vs the 84-87 cars. Common sence tells me yes but again in the fireo store catolog under the KYB/Koni/Monroe its listed as fitting the 84-88.

A stock '88 Formula Fiero rear spring is ~5.5" center of the wire to center on all the coils except the bottom coil, which is ~4.12".
I know that 'cause I just measured it.

Mmmm not really. I ordered 84-87 struts from carparts.com per the advice of Mike V. (mrfiero - '88 fiero connoiseur) and they worked fine.

Officially there is no '88 KYB strut, just '84-'87. However, they will work on your '88......I've used them on several of the Fieros I've owned. In some instances you must grind out some metal from the slotted hole (either the strut or the knuckle). Some '88s won't allow enough adjustment with the KYBs.....not all, but some. You won't know until you put them on......I believe it's the right one that gives the most trouble.

At any rate, the KYB struts will work, but might need some coaxing.
