I have unplugged the tcc and cleaned it several times. It works for about 10-15 miles then acts up again. Will it hurt anything but gas milage to leave it unpluged? Thanks

Yeah, it will hurt the transmission. Its time to replace the lockup solenoid, which is right behind that plate the connector plugs into. Its kind of a messy job, but not really that big of a deal.

Hurt the transmission? How?

My information is no consequences other than mileage and more revs per mile. I drove over 600 miles from NY to Illinois with it disconnected after it stalled the car at the toll barrier going from NY to Pennsylvania. . . and its still disconnected.

A controversy?? As far as I Know it causes poor gas mileage and higher Trans heat. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I was going to change the valve but it is $40 and I have to wait 4 days to get it. I am changing my fluid and filter now and it would be a good time to change it. But I can't wait 4 days, so can I drive with it disconnected until I get a chance to order the valve?

You should be able to drive it with the TCC disconnected. It only raises the rpms about 200 and won't generate that much additional heat.

Guys on the forum have run them for years with TCC disconnected.

Gee I thought I was confirming that you can drive it without the TCC. Additional heat? Where did that come from? I swear people just make this stuff up. OK, so the converter continues to function and some heat is generated. So what. Automatics are made to take that. Automatics were around fourty years before they had TCC's added to 'em and they didn't suffer from the heat. That's just "operational temperature" as the engineers say. Well within limits.

Spoke with Joe at The FieroShop on this issue a little while ago, first off, 90% of the auto fieros that come into his shop have it disconnected, he will replace it cheap if you get a fuild/filter change because then it's no biggie. But mine is disconnected and he said I could leave it that way andthere is NO heat issues, it raises the RPM's a bit that's all (which DOES create more heat, but not any more than normal at that RPM) I do'nt worry about hear because I have a racing tranny cooler
