Check your distributor. I was replacing the pick-up coil when I noticed the reluctor was craked. When I took it off it broke completly in half. I put it back on, because I can't get a new one without buying a new distributor, and now the car is dieing just like yours is. It could either be the reluctor or the Pick-up coil. Pray it is the pickup coil because you can't get a new reluctor without buying a whole new distributor.

I don't think it would be the dist. pick up coil, if it is bad it wont run at all. I would check the throtle position sensor. I know it is supposed to send a code, but I have found sometimes if the sensor is not completly shot it won't throw a code.
Good luck

I had a problem like this. I found that it was a bad EGR. No codes where set and ran fine once I was on the gas, but would stall at stop lights. This was on an 86 2.8 Automatic.
