Has anyone that did the head volume comparison tell or 2.8 rebuilds know if the OEM pistons in the 2.8 are flatop? I bought a car that had the eng rebuilt 65K mi ago and it has flatops in it. It had 4 bad exhaust valves in it, yet it and started right up and ran with excellent accelleration. Yes that is 4 out of 6... incredible. I'm thinking it may have had tolerable compression (to run) as the compression was increased with those pistons. I can't imagine that the car ran well if even at all with those valves in it.

Last 2.8 pistons I saw (long ago) looked flat on top. Is that what you're asking?

The stock 2.8 pistons are definately flat.
