Can anyone who has installed the 84 SE 4 cyl 4.10 final drive gears into a v-6 Muncie 4 spd comment on the difficulty involved?

With the transmission already removed, is it more than a 2-3 hr hour job to have the trans ready to go back in?

Any special pullers needed for disassembly or tools other than dial indicators required to set gear backlash / preload?

Thanks

Kerry

Keith (Fiero Doc)Huff simply took out the final gear cog and put it into the Getrag case. It did not appear to be that difficult at all. Hooking it back up to the engine (lining it up) is always fun and exciting.

He had it hooked up with a Bells-and-Whistles 3.4 and it went like a banshee. Screams like a banshee on the freeway too...and not in the good way, the way that he is the one pulling over for gas on our caravans! Definitely not a freeway gearing!

i had the entire tranny form an 84 in my 86 SE V6... i swaped clutches like they were going out of style.. but that was thier fault.. the 4:10 pulls like a TRAIN to 70 or so and then it falls on it's face.. I was running nitrous and loved every minute of my 4:10.. i even drove it from Atlanta to sioux falls, SD and it sang at 32-3500rpm @ 80mph the entire way their...
