tpeerson To help make it simple: A little background on my car: V8 Carb 355 Spyder in progress. First I installed an external fuel pump, main reason is that this car has an X frame under the car. So now the tank will never have to be dropped. This also helped with the simple solution of getting the fuel from the tanks to the V8. Fuel is being drawn from either tank by the one pump. I’m using a fuel solenoid switch to switch the lines from main tank to auxiliary, (available at JC Whitney) This install ended up being a lot easier than expected.
If you are using the internal pump, I’m not sure what direction you would want to go. I thought I was going to have to pump fuel from the aux to the main tank via an additional pump until I found the switch.
Your car looks great! And tight! How's the progress.

Where did you buy the fuel cell/what model is it? did you have to cut anything to fit it in? did you remove the stock fuel pump or are you useing two? if you removed the stock pump how did you do this?

Spyder, Got any photos of your car? I've considered making mine a convertible. What reinforcements do you have to add?
Thanks to my friend, Dan, the car is coming along slowly but surely. There's a lot of adjustments to make it right. He's a great body & paint craftsman.

If you run two tanks with in-tank pumps, you need a dual circuit switching valve to switch the delivery lines and the return lines. If you don't switch the return lines, the fuel will be returned to whichever tank has the easiest return path which will result in overflow that tank. The six-port switching valves are common on pickup trucks with dual tanks.
I took out the spare tire and welded in a crossbeam then added sheet metal and then mounted the battery and an auxiliary five gallon gas tank in the front nose of the car. No cutting of the car, just removed the spare tire and the panel that the spare tire was in. Also the factory sun roof does still fit.
I think I bought the 5 gallon fuel cell from Jegs, it comes polished but I painted it black. It has the slosh foam inside also. And for people who don’t think it is a good idea to have the fuel cell there, tell it to the 911 owners out there.
rockcrawl has some good pics on the side braces on his site. I have just an x frame right now. I will be adding the side pieces and tie it all in together. By the way rockcrawl, How’s your project coming?
