So has anyone had any experience with rear-end collisions?
Just had the displeasure of being hit in the rear, hard enough so that the toe in/out was affected.Wondering now what to look for in a quality repair.

That's major damage. If you didn't hit a wheel, it likely means the shock towers moved. Needs a frame shop to fix that. Big job and isn't likely cheap. Other guy's insurance is likely to want to total it.

I got rear ended in my original '84 and was able to drive away from the wreck, but my insurance company did total my car.

The car was drivable, but frame and "bumper" damage made it unsafe to drive besides any hidden or obvious damage.

Sort of a bad experience because besides the obvious aspects, it makes essentially a "forced sale" and you have to negotiate with your own insurance company about the value of your car. I did upgrade to a GT, though, because of it.

I got hit hard by a full size Olds. Old lady was going about 40 and I was stgopped behind a van.

Totaled her Olds and it had to be towed away. I wired up my bumper and drove it home. They tgtoaled it and I bought it back from the insurance company and fixed it myself. Still drove good after that. I had just pu a new motor in it so it was worth more to me.

Sold it a few years later.

Wow,that's what I was afraid of,looked underneath, and the situation didn't look good, however I'm sure it can be aligned again.Guess I'm going to have to prove that my car is worth more than a stock one.
I had a problem like this before with another car, seems that unless you have a perfect '55 Chevy,or a Rolls that your car is "just an old car" to the ins. co.

LowCG - sorry to hear about your troubles. I realize it is a bit late, but for everyone else - this should be a wake up call to get your car professionally appraised. I just had mine re-done this past weekend, and it's cheap insurance compared to the money you could be out if you don't. Check any of the web-based sites, and blue book on Fieros isn't exactly reflective of the typical, well-maintained cars that are represented here on the site.

My $.02 for the day.

Take care,
Hartz

Yeah, snifflesniffle, the 3.4tdc works great, just have to sort things out with the insurance people now,got an estimate for around $1400 to fix it from a place that's supposed tp be decent, but that # sounded kind of low to me to take it all apart and do frame work, but maybe they're more competitive these days(?).
