when i'm driving around town, i usually drive in a higher gear to keep the rpms down. probably around 1500 or so. just as i was driving today, i noticed a faint clattering noise (don't know any other way to put it) coming from the engine as i accelerate. any ideas?

My 86 SE does the same thing...found it to be a loose "heat shield" or "oil shield"...those things that cover the exhaust components to prevent them from catching fire or whatever....dont know if its the same situation you have. Sound like something rattling around in the trunk kinda?

well the noise is gone now. it wasn't a heatshield or anything. i made sure all of those were tight a couple months ago when one was loose. it kind of sounded like the timing was off, but who knows. seems ok now
