Hi, I just bought an 87 GT that has all the usual Fiero signs of wear on it. Right now, I am trying to find out if there is any way to repair a couple small cracks in the lenses of my tail lights. It doesn't have to look perfect, but I would rather repair than replace. The lenses are quite pricey and the cracks are small.

Any suggestions?

Tony

I have not made this exact repair, but I have done many others patch jobs. I would recommend a two-part epoxy. Remove the clear lens and make the repair to the back side so it looks better. You may also consider cyanoacrylate (or super glue), but some of it may run though to the exposed side of the lens unless you use a gel type. Good Luck

That is an application where epoxy or "super" glue is not desired. There are kits you can get at most autoparts stores for this. Use one of those. Done carefully the cracks will almost vanish.

Tail light lense materials usually respond best to "solvent welding." This is the same result as "real" (Toluene) model cement. Use the kit tho. it has glues with the right solvents to make permanent repairs.

While on this subject, can the lenses be repaired for the delaminating? Has anyone repaired one , and please tell how it's done.
