I have a 84 Fiero 2m4 with the 13" alloy wheels. They came with a wheel lock that uses a ridge to twist the lug nut.

I have the tool for these locks, but on one of the special lug nuts the threads are bad. I put the lug wrench on and start to torque, and the tool pops off.

Anybody know a way to remove the lug nut without damaging the stud? My car is a rust free california car, I am certain the bolt will turn if I can get a wrench to stay on it.

Use a cheap 12 point - 1/2" drive socket that is just one size too small to slide over the lug. Find a big hammer and drive it on. Then, just twist it off. After you get it off, it'll make you wonder just how secure your wheels really were.

Good Luck,
Roy
