Now I got my dash all back together my decklid release doesn't work. When I press the switch with out the parking brake on the brake light on the dash lights up, if I hit the switch with the brake on the light doesn't light. I know the brake and the decklid release are connected somewhere. Anyone even had this problem?

TIA for all advice.

On manual tranny cars.....

The decklid switch is wired to the brake handle switch. Like the temperature guage Pontiac screwed up the way it's tied to the harness. You aren't suposed to be able to open the lid remotely unless the brake is pulled.

Other than making an alteration to the wiring harness you can't do much about it.

As for what else may be wrong, check my cave. most everything in the trunk system is in those articles.

There is an interlock safety relay( on standard shift anyway) that doesn't allow the trunk release to work if the key is on and the e brake down. Sounds like you messed it up some way. The relay is under the dash near the steering column
