I have a coolant leak coming out of my engine. I've tryed every possible scenario that it could be (changed head gasket, water pump, etc.) until i noticed where exactly the coolant was coming out from. It's coming out a the side of the block right above the timing chain. There is a "metal seal" that is holded on by 4 bolts and is sealed with RTV (I believe), and the coolant is leaking out of the right bottom bolt. When opened there is this like chamber that the antifreeze is in. I'm not sure if the sealant was leaking or if the bolt at the bottom right was leaking. I'm not exactly sure what a freeze plug is nor what it looks like, I'm not too mechanically inclined. Is this a freeze plug or was the bolt just not tight? Can I just go and pick up a replacement at like Autozone or something? Where else are there freeze plugs on/in the engine? Please help...

I understand that this is a 4 cylinder car. What you are describing is not a freeze plug, freeze plugs are about 1 inch in diameter and are located on the block in several locations. They are a 'force fit' (press in to seat), other plugs in the engine cooling system are called block drains. They are 3/8, or equivlant threaded pipe plugs also in several locations. As for your problem, since you have already removed the plate, take it to the parts store and get a new one. If they are not available separately, get some gasket material and cut one out yourself, and some RTV to reinstall the cover.
