I was at the Pontiac dealer Saturday and the new Aztec is putting out 185 HP from a pushrod 3.4, and it's also a transverse set-up. Has anybody looked into this further as our next "simple" engine swap?

Sorry, I don't know if anyone has done a V8 conversion on an Aztek yet?

I believe you can find the same exact 3.4 in a Montana Van. Personally, I'd use the Aztek over the Montana for the donor. That way you could always weld up a trailer tongue on the Aztek and use it as a small camper trailer if you wanted.

Hey they say it's the most versatile vehicle on the planet.

WELL, if the engine is so interesting, when do the custom body kits come out to replace what the factory thought was cool.

Actually, I was thinking about putting a 185 HP Aztec engine in my '87 Fiero GT. I know it's Monday, but I don't recall asking about putting a V8 in an Aztec.

I'd use the Aztek over the Montana, too.
I think the best possible use for the Aztec is for a drivetrain donor for the Fiero.
Get them eyesores off the street.

You can't put a v8 into an Aztec until next year when they get All Wheel Drive as an option.

I'd put huge tires on it and use it to run over PT Cruisers.

I know Wade, the second time I read your question it somewhat sounded to me that you were saying the Aztek will be the next best Pontiac vehicle to do engine swaps since the Fiero. I was just kidding there

Hmmm... not sure if you can get real big tires under those, look at the clearance with just regular sized tires. not much. I'd say if you want to put 35" tires under one then take one and bolt the body on top a Jeep or blazer chassis. Someone have a graphics program handy?
