We recently got a white 88 GT in near showroom condition. The car was stored for years and the tires have good tread but seem hard, stiff, dry and noisy. The current tires are Cordovan Grand Prix Radial GT (No I never heard of them either). They are the correct sizes. We want to replace the tires and need tires good in snow and rain (Yes it will be a daily driver) as well as improving the ride and noise. I had a 87 GT in 87 and remember the Goodyear Eagle GT tires were very noisy and not great in rain. Somebody out there must know the best tire for our GT.

The Dunlop D60A2 is good tire and cheap too about $60 each in Massachusetts. Consumer Reports gave them an excellent rating also. I put these tires on my Impala and they made a huge difference in the way it handled. The Dunlop D60A2 is a Touring performance tire though and may not be good in snow. If you are looking for a good all season tire than the Cooper Lifeliner Classic 2 is a good all around performer (about $60).

I will second those Dunlop D60 A2's. I have them on my 88 Formula and they are very good in dry and wet conditions. I cannot give you an honest opinion about snow, since I garage my Fiero in the winter. However, due to their great wet weather performance (IMHO) I think they would be adequate for winter driving. Just be careful because they are wide!

AS for the Cooper Lifeliner Classic II's, they are also very good. I had a set of these on a 1991 Ford Probe and was very pleased with them. Very good on the highway. Either is a good choice, but the Dunlops will give you more all-out performance and grip.

I've driven Fiero's year 'round since '83 here in Northern Vermont. I live near Jay Peak with hilly terrain and oftentimes lots of snow covered roads.
Had the best luck with Cooper Weathermaster ST winter radials, P185/80R13's all the way around on steel rims. They aint pretty but keeps me out of the snowbanks. Uphill traction is phenomenal. The thin profile of the tires keep the car from hydroplaning on slush. Goodyear Eagle GT II's have been a good all around tire. Very quiet and did quite well in the snow. Got caught with them still on the car last fall. I was surprised at how well they did in that early snowstorm. I have learned how to handle the Fiero's in snow, you can't transfer FWD driving habits to these cars. If this is the first time you are driving one in the winter, you may want to play with the car in a snow covered parking lot to familiarize yourself with the car's handling behavior. They are actually excellent snow cars when you get the hang of it.

Here in the "Windy City" I prefer BFGoodrich T/A tires. Quiet ride, excellent all-weather traction, and great looks.
