Well has some of you may know my heater core went out 2 weeks ago and I thought it was the radiator so I switched insurance and put her up till next year. So where is this heater core located?? Is it in the front under the hood or is it inside of the cab?? What do I need to do to replace this because I have no idea what it is or looks like.
As soon as it is installed I am taking my Fiero for a spin because I miss her already. Everyday I sit in her and pretend that I am driving and start it up to hear the growl of the engine. OOOOOOo can't wait till next year to drive it again with a new 3.4 installed. Sorry just dreaming and typing at the same time

Thanks Ken

You disconnect the heater hoses (after draining rad) and remove it from under passenger side dash. It is inside that greyish black box by passengers toes. Haynes manual will tell all you need to know.

Just to confuse the issue, replacing the heater core in my '87 (with no air conditioning) was easier to do from the spare tire compartment.

Do a Search for "heater core"...

Just curious, but did you document the process you went through yourself or just reading how other folks took the heater core out through the front? I searched under your ID for heater core and just found your posts about how it was easier and to search for heater core, but I didn't see anywhere in those 4 posts about how you did it. If you didn't put up the process then I'll sift through the tons of heater core posts and find it. I'll probably have to do this tomorrow myself and although my car has AC I want to consider my options.
Thanks,
Wade

Wade, you didn't look in the archived threads, did you? Have a look at these three. The second one is probably what you want, but the first one was kind of fun.

If you have AC you have no options. The heatercore will not come out the front.

On the AC setup the heater core cover is held by 4 screws. There's one for each side of the cover. The top one is easiest to get out if the speaker is removed. The other three you can easily get from under the dash. ((You can get the top one w/o removing the speaker if you are Very flexible.))

There's a small trick to getting most of the air out.

1. make sure the radiator is full.
2. put the hoses on the heatercore but only clamp the bottom one.
3. take off the cap in the engine bay and fill the thing to the top.
4. carefully work the top hose off the heater core to bleed the air off. Don't pull it all the way off.
5. top off the engine and close the cap.
