Well replaced my pickup coil, got in the car turned the key and she cranked & cranked somore. So i get out of the car double check all of the usual, cap rotor wires and plug wires. Get back in the car and more cranking. grab a spare plug and my dad crank it and no spark. Tore everything apart everything looks good, but still no spark. Stuff like this makes me MAD!!!!!

I suspect the new pickup coil is bad, it got dark out fast so i haven check it with the volt meter yet.

Also i used dielectric grease on the back of the ignition module (i dont have any heatsink compound but ill get some tomorrow) is it possible to use to much of the stuff?

Heatsink compound is designed to aid in heat transfer. BUT too much and it now becomes an insulator and heat doesn't transfer. You want a nice even thin layer. The "bigger the glob the better the job" doesn't apply here.

Sounds like it may be in the primary system. Check for battery voltage to the coil and the ignition module. A volt meter is best, but you can use a test light (note brightness by checking it on battery first). Be sure that the coil is shooting spark to cap!
(You may disreguard this note if you have D.I.S. on a mid '87 or '88 2.5)

dielectric won't hurt anything but heatsink compound is better.

put a small gob in the center and let it spread itself. Tighten the screws slowly so it can spread evenly.

If you use too much it will ooz out all over the place. The volume that ends up between the parts is pretty much self regulating, especially with screwed down parts.
