Dist Cap and Rotor - cant remove... by GodSend

Grrrr...

Actually, its only the rotor I can not remove. I unscrewed the Cap and the connections at the top looked a little worn, so I figured I would replace it with a new one (along with the rotor).

I pulled as hard as I could on the rotor and it would not come off the distributor. Are there any tricks to getting these things off? (I noticed only very minimal corrosion around the area, so I don't think is rusted on).

Beat the snot out of it with a hammer seeing as you are going to replace it anyway.

I thought I was the only one that had that problem. I have a I4, and i pulled on it for a half hour tring to remove it. I was about to give up when CRACK!!! it broke it 3 peices. There was no rust on it at all, I dont know why it was so hard???

And there is no chance of damaging the distributor?

Don't beat on it. That could hurt the distributor. grab one end of it with a set of big pliers and break it.

I don't know why they seem to bond to some distributors. It's not uncommon.

Use A wide blade screwdriver at the bottom and pry off. you new one will fit tighty also.
