Almost everytime I get into my Fiero I have to turn the car on but it won't start so I sit there for like 4 seconds with the battery on and then turn the key a little farther and then it fires right up. Why does it to that?? I do have a radio deck in there and when it flips all the way over I can then fire the car up. Sometimes though but not often the car will just fire right up with no wait but most of the time I wait for my deck to flip over then fire it up.
My car again is a 86SE v6 4 speed with 130,750 on it.

Thanks Ken

So the car won't turn over or won't fire if you hit the starter right away? If the engine cranks but won't fire right away, I'd suspect maybe a bad diaphram in the fuel pump allowing the fuel to flow back. I'm guessing here, someone please correct me if I'm wrong

I would first check the battery connections and the connections on the starter. One or some could be loose or corroded.
