i have a 1985 SE. this is my second fiero , first didn't last long. i've only had this 1 about a month or 2 .
i found a something in the trunk area ( spare tire / front ) that i don't know what it is or what its for.
it is a piece of molded plastic with 2 " slider " clips on it. it is laying crossways in a holder for it . up near the top & close to the windshield. it looks like some kind of air foil by the shape of it but its only about 4 inches across , yet it is about 3 1/2 to 4 ft long.

questions ....1 & 2
what is it & what is it for ?
also , i saw a pic of a fiero on the internet with some air dams that came up over the top of the car & put cool air into the engine or engine compartment...

question ... #3
with the heat thats built up back there would it be a good idea to install the high air dams & maybe louver the little flat section on the deck lid create a cooler air flow in engine compartment.

thanks for any & all help ..as i'm sure i'll be posting more questions soon

#1) That little plastic thing is a wind deflector that goes in when the sunroof is removed. The two clips clip in where the sunroof clips in.

#3)

This will keep it cool!!!!

i'm guessing it sucks air out as opposed to old muscle car hood scoops that sucked air in ?

Moonie,

On the latch mechanism for the Sunroof you will see two tabs on the side. Press them in and lift the latch out of the holder. The sunroof can be removed now by sliding it out of the roof mounts. It stores under the front compartment where you found the wind deflector. You will see foam rubber pads for it to sit on.

Also many people don't realize that many Fieros have a light in this compartment that turns on when the hood is opened. I believe the parking light switch has to be on also. If your's has it you will see a switch on the cowl that is depressed by the hood when it is closed (looks like a door light switch).

First Welcome to our Forum. Second, the "air dams that come over the roof" Do you mean scoop? I have an Over-the-roof Indy scoop.
Is this what you saw?

it was 2 pieces looked like .
where the vents are on the decklid , they were attached to that. both rose up over the top of the roof on either side. they were shaped like the thing behind a indy car drivers helmet. kinda triangular but rounded. i call it a dam because to me a scoop is low & flat & wide.
i'm calling it a air dam becaise it looked more like the air dams on a jet fighter plane they way they stoop up & shaped.

maybe my terminoligy is wrong , bit it looked like 2 huge black butter bowls turned on there side & connected to a tube to deliver the air to the engine compartment.
of sourse , they were very well made & looked nice , not actually butter bowls , LOL
i'll look for pic again , but found it wandering the net .no idea where

Those vents are a bad idea, because they're trying to force air in where it's supposed to be coming out.. and they look pretty bad imho..
