I realize these are shorter than 215-60-15s, but what I'm really wondering about is how well they work on the front with stock 7" wide rims. Is anyone running this size on all four?

I'm running 225/50/15's on the rear and they filled out the fender wells completely, no room for anymore thats legal anyways. i have a 88gt with the blacklace wheels. i'm running 215/50/15's on the front, i think there might be room for a 225 on a 7.5 rim in front but not the 7inch rim(i mean the tire is too wide for the rim). I have to run less tire pressure on my rear tires due to the overfit of the tire. All of this came from my local sears store. i could be wrong so i'd deff. get another opinion. hope i helped.

I am running BFGoodrich Euro T/A's. They are all 225/50HR15's on GT wheels. The 225/50-15's are perfect for 15X7" GT wheels. The recommended wheel size for these tires per BFG is 6" to 8". I even have my car lowered and stiffened up the suspension. There is no rubbing and very little tire roll. The car handles great! I did a lot of research for my tires, I was originally going to go with 245/50-15's all the way around. You need to be less than 1" overhang from the wheel. So a 9" wide tire should be max width for a 7" wheel. The BFG 225/50-15's are 8.8" wide with a 4.4" sidewall. Your speedo will be 1.8% faster than true speed due to the overall size of the tire. Here is a pic of my front tire.

Pretender ~ are you sure the tire is a 50 series and not a 60 series? You say it fills the wheel well up. Is your car lowered or stock suspension?

I have 225/50/15 in the back of my Formula with lowered suspension. There is still plenty of room there for more. I guess the front should be also OK on pre 88 cars.

I had a set of 225 50 15 on the front of my GTs and 245 50 15 in the rear without problems (on both my 86 and 87 GT)

Go to the general discussion section for pictures of 225 50 16 that I have on the rear of my 88 Coupe.

I also have a set of 225 50 15 on all four corners of my 88 Formula and the rears are too short! Putting my stock 215 60 15 tires/wheels next to them shows them to be about an inch shorter.

Thanks for the info guys. The 225's are the perfect size for the 7" rims, and overall, it is a good size for the car. I'm sure they will look strange without lowering, but I'm looking for an alternative to 16" sizes for lapping and time trials. Sounds like these will be a good choice.
