Hey Everyone, I am in the process of getting my car painted. I want to paint my rocker panels a different color than the body of the car, but the body panel is in the way. Is there a way to get the rocker panel off and still be able to put it back on when i am done? How hard is it also? If anyone knows how to take them off, Please tell me. Thanks in Advance...

I think the rocker panels are held on by plastic pop rivit type fastners underneath the car that break easily when you take them off. Plus underneath the black plastic cover on the top of the rocker panel, there may be some more fastners. Mine have been off at least three times, cause they get scuffed up easily. But I just sent the car to the paint guy in the body shop and the came back painted. Not too very expensive.

I think a "special tool" is needed to pop the "special fasteners" to reattach the rocker panels.

Thanks Old Lar, I was afraid of that "special tool" part. Well I am going to paint my car myself at school. This is my third year of AUTO. REPAIR AND REFINISH. I am sure if there is any special tool needed, we have one in our shop.

When I get done, I will post pics. (Before and After ones)
