Is it a 4 cylinder? Or a 6? The 6s are cross fire and the 4s are carburated to my knowledge. I don't know much about the 4 cylinders though.

They are all injected. The 4 has a TBI (throttle body injection) which is bascially a carb looking thing that is the throttle body and the atomizer all in one. The 6 is MPI mutiple port injection which means the throttle body only regulates the air because it has individual injectors and the port for each cylinder

the older 2.5s were carb

but all 84 and up fieros were fuel injected

pull your air cleaner off and you will notice a throttle body, there is a large single fuel injector, that sprays onto a butterfly while air is being pulled at the same time, when you press the throttle, you can see the butterfly open up and the mixture divides into the intake manifold to each cylinder.

If you want, you can take the aircleaner off while the car is running, to actually see it spraying which you cant on a v6. Warning, dont drop anything in there, like an air cleaner nut.

You know, it takes about HALF as long to actually unscrew the air cleaner cover and look at it than it does to post a message...

You know Shiner, I already did that. My friend does not believe me, I told him it was a TBI. He insisted that is was a carberated car, even though I showed him the Fuel Injecter...so dont be a jerk! All I wanted to do is prove him wrong...he thinks he is a genious.

PS. You guys say this is a forum for asking questions...so I didnt expect to be getting picked at!

Just because someone can pull the filter and look doesnt always mean they know what they are looking at or for. I took this as they looked but still didnt know. Its an easy mistake to make between a tbi and a carb. They are basicallt the same thing.

This is not an apology, but it's hard to get the meaning of what ppl say over the net. I didn't mean it as a "duh, you idiot". I think a at the end would have made all the difference.

A TBI looks does look like a carb, with the exception of the injector nozzle pointed right down the "Barrell".

Like Tom said, its easy to mistake if you dont know exactly what your looking at (or for).

Thanks for your suport guys, I really need it. I just bought this Fiero, I love the car...just wished it was faster! But I am new to the whole Fiero thing, I want to learn as much as possible. And Shiner, I did kind of blow off the handle on my last post, I am sorry about that, however I dont think it was very polite of you to hassel me like that. Anyways, I dont hold grudges, so hopfully an apology will be axcepted on your part. I wish not to make enemys here, only friends.

haha. Poor Knight, I don't ever recall getting poked at that bad... where do you guys go to school? (I read Shiner's profile, and the fact that Knight 'walks' in a few months...) anyways, to keep things technical(for the forum): SE's got the TBI in 87... and (if you do some research) you'll see that 87+ 4banger models have about 6 more hp... (I think fierospeeder answered you're question fully)

Hey man, what do you mean by "Knight 'walks' in a couple months"??? By the way, have any of you heard of Spiralmax? It looks interesting. Says it adds up to 35 HP...not to bad for $80. I think I might try it, since I can get my money back if I dont like it.

yeah, reading it over, seems my post was pretty vauge, I read that you were graduating... maybe it's just a term in virginia? there's a few posts (recent ones) regarding Spiralmax, seems it's more along the lines of -thumbs down-, man. but read and see what you think of it... DaRkLoRD has a thread for it. www.spiralmax.com
