Here are the Pics I promised on my Indy scoop mounting. Enjoy. ( the reason the background looks at an angle is due to I am rebuliding the rear suspension and it's on jack stands)

since i made mine to come compleatly off also, i moved mine closer to the rear window than irm recomended.i like the way it looks close and if i open up the aluninum compleatly the back of the scoop is still opening into the engine compartment.do you have to worry about that? are you working up any filter/routing ideas?

I was going to move mine forward But I wanted to keep the area between the mounting points as solid as possible and have the hole about where it is. If I were to cut all the way to the front and back if the scoop the decklid molded supports would be cut all the way thru and I didn't want the scoop to have any play side to side. Right now after it is bolted on it feels very solid no movement at all! As for Idea's, I know the aircleaner box on an 88/89 grand prix goes around the battery and its a top in side out design. I was thinking of mounting it just below the hole, cutting the fitting on top flush and the size of my decklid hole, placing a foam gasket to seal between the air cleaner and decklid, then just run a silicone hose to the intake. The best part in you can still use the sensor that is on the present aircleaner. I just have to get to a bone yard (junk yard) and search for the air cleaner box. I have the dimensions I need to stay within. Unless someone here is good at making aluminum boxes that are oddly shaped?

Does anyone know of a GM car that has a metal air cleaner box?

compleatly wild guess here.i don't own a v-6 and am going by your pics and a picture in a magazine (kit car) i'm meaning to poke a k&n filter through the hole in my trunk (5.5"hole, k&n ru3130 : 3 1/2 " dia. top 4 5/8 dia bottom,7" tall or a similar model that is 5.5" tall, that fits over a 3 1/2 " pipe.the hope is to have the pipe run through a flat aluminum disc that seals agaist the bottom of the trunk(i hope that makes sence) the disc would be attatched to the engine some how where the filter stays with the engine and the trunk lid lifts over it (like an old trans am shaker).then you would'nt need room for the filter under the hood, just tubing from the filter to the intake. maybe a muffler shop could mandrel bend some light guage tubing or aluminum if you could find it.or hit the import boy shops to see if you can find something close enough to have a muffler shop tweak in for you.
as i said this is all guessing, point out any problems you see (emmissions attatchments, space etc.) if it seems doable and you try it post some thing since i may need it later (i hope). i think all v6's would need a similar routing. you can be my guinea pig .
