I recently installed a ram air scoop on the side of my 85 SE that had not be driven in a least 2 months. After driving it with the new scoop on there is a very pronounced stutter durring acceleration in gears 1,2,&3. Push it hard enough and it will backfire up the throttle body and out the intake. Is this due to the scoop feeding the engine to much air or do i have another problem here? Thanks for your help!

Unless you've sucked a small pedestrian into your intake system, I'd say your problems are elsewhere.

ahem... cough cough...

My Camaro exhibited similar problems with backfiring through the intake due to an exhaust leak from a bad O ring where the exhaust pipes off the manifold met. But it was pretty obvious there was an exhaust leak with the hood up.

It was just a 100 to 1 shot...

I have a slight hesitation when i stomp on it to hard, but if i slowly gas it then punch it it goes away. Seems to happen more when it's nice outside and people are looking at my car. Sometimes it comes real colse to stalling then it takes off..

Just a thought, Fuel filter? I really don't know, but if you haven't changed it in a while it might be worth the $10. If it doesn't fix anything, hey at least you got a new fuel filter.
