I have a 1986 Fiero SE V-6 auto, ground effects, rocker panels. I want to paint it canarie yellow this spring, I think it will look nice.......I thinking about painting the outside mirrors black, molding around middle of car black and the rest of the car including the rocker panels and ground effects canarie yellow. Think this will look good???

I have a tag on my red fiero that says "My other car is a red fiero", I have the same tag on my other red fiero. Did I mention that I like red fieros????
I thought my sun yellow 88 T-Top coupe with black formula wheels looked awesome, until I saw mrfiero's white 88 T-Top formula with gold wheels! SWEET!! Red Fieros are also sweet, but I think white cars look more exotic. Maybe that's me. I bought a 2000 Nissan Altima 2000 GLE last month that's pearl white, and it gets mistaken for a Lexus all the time My next Fiero will definitely be red, my first one was red, and I loved it! Paint it red! Or white, or yellow, oh heck, black, I'm going to sleep.....
Thanks for the compliment on my Formula. I like how it looks too, although the paint is showing it's age.
My favorite color combination, however, is black with tan interior and gold wheels. My '88 GT looks like this and I've even considered painting the Formula black. The problem with black is it is very hard to keep clean!
My GT is med red met.too and someday I want to paint it exactly the way 86SE is thinking of painting his except I'd paint the ground effects and rocker panels black as well as the mirrors and trim. DO IT! It's funny cause I've never been a big fan of yellow till I saw it on a Fiero!!
The sportier the car - the more dangerous to paint it "ARREST ME RED". Police seem to watch more closely...
I've had cars of many different colors. Police don't look twice at white, grey, or blue cars. I settled on a burgundy/grey 87 GT because I liked that combination the best. I haven't had police "watching me"..
Just a thought. Anyone else notice car color making a difference in police attitudes?
It is funny that you would ask. My brother is a policeman and when his car was broke down, he drove my Fiero for "a few days"- that turned out to be several weeks! He got pulled over at least 5 times. Of course, he drives like a demon. Since I got my car back, I have not had a policeman give it a second look.

A neat way to get a canary yellow is to start with a safety yellow(Corvette yellow,or something strong) base coat, then put a clear with platinum pearl over it.The platinum pearl shades the color up to a pale or canary color.I did this on one of my bike frames back in '87 and wanted to try it on a car sometime.
