During the ceremonial replacement of the intake manifold gaskets, I discovered these injectors...there are two different kinds on my fuel rail.

Anyone seen these flat tipped ones before? Heck- shouldnt they all be the same kind?

Four of 'em are the same...they can be best described as having hats -little plastic covers over the orifice. One of them was missing the "hat".

I have to replace the whole injector for a missing plastic "hat"? And what about the two odd injectors; with the flat tips? Are they standard?

When I pulled my engine apart one of my injectors was missing a "hat" too. I think it was so old it broke up on itself. Just to see what I could see, I asked the guy at Advanced Auto Parts if he sold replacement hats. He did! The pack of injector odds and ends included all the O-rings and little washers to remount your injectors. I think the injectors themselves are fine, so I'll just replace the consumables.

Grrrrrrr. I went to Autozone, and all they had in the way of seal kits was a bag of o-rings. No hats. The injectors they had in stock were of the flat tipped variety, and go for a whoppin' $50 each.

Advance had the same inj. at $31. Go figure. But no hats. I cant beleive that this lack-of-hat is gonna hold up my reassembly.

Any chance you still have the part number on the seals you got from Advance?
