I'm looking at buying a 86 SE Fiero with 93,000 miles on it. What should I be looking for when I test drive it?
Are Fiero's hard to maintane? Also how hard is the Fiero V6 engine to rebuild if needed?? All replies will help.

some things to check is, check all fluids, and the color, such as oil, there shouldn't be any water in the oil it would be kind of white in color, and it should also not be black. Check the radiator fluid and also before the car is hot check the radiator if it has fluid to see if the cooling system is in good condition. Look at the brake pads through the wheels you should be able to see if theres any pad left, check the tire thread, check the trans fluid if its automatic, if your getting a clutch, figure that you might need to replace it, check exhaust, seeing what color, white=water or coolant, blue=oil, black=rich, while in the engine bay, push the car back and forth and see how much the engine moves, depending if you need new mounts for trans and engine, check the suspension by pressing the car down seeing if it bounces less then 2 times, and it should be firm, common things is the paint being faded, some fieros have the ignition key being hard to turn or getting stuck, my auxillary is stripped so i have to check out my steering column, check if all the gauges turn on when you start the car, oil pressure light goes off, no knocking or loud noises from the engine. Road test, see if you can drive without steering, meaning you dont need an alignment, braking check, go through the gears, all of them, check window wipers, etc... turn signals the lights turn on the horn works, check the A/C if its cool, most fieros, the emergency brake is rusted and doesn't work anymore where it snows, look underneath the car for bad rust spots, and for anything moist meaning somethings leaking. Thats all i can think of right now, just write all of these on paper while you can check them off the list, what doesn't work means you got to put that money in to get it working.

Another thing you want to check is see if all the body panels are line up properly...when you open the door...does it open all the way without snagging the fenders...if so..there's a possibility the car got in a accident and the frame might be bent...
