Is there any real trick to bypassing the EGR valve? Which lines need to be plugged?
I've heard mixed opinions about the long term effects of bypassing the EGR. The opinions range from: "had mine off for two years with no effect"; to "if you remove the EGR the motor will run too lean and burn a piston". Anyone have any insite or real experience?

Had mine off for longer than 2 years and no problem.. I have a V6..when you disengage the EGR you have to by pass the EGR Solenoid to fool the computer thinking it's still functional or else you will get a code in the ECM.

I believe that byassing the egr will give better part throttle response. As far as better mileage or HP, probably a little- but only in the throttle range that the egr operates in.
I removed the EGR tube 6 years ago because I had two break and will not pay $100 for another, I didn't notice any HP gain or loss, but I did have to put black tape across the "check engine" light

On the Solenoid for the EGR..there are 2 wires that you want to connect together and this fools the computer thinking that the EGR is functioning well. I will look into my car and let you know which wire and that way you can take the Solenoid out completely...

There Is Two Small Black Wires That Plug In Side By Side Into The Switch. Un-Plug These Wires And Connect Them Together. This Will Fool The Computer And Make It Think The Switch Is Made Up. No More Code 32.

The 660 engines love to ping at high-part throttle with no EGR. When I switched ECM's and installed a knock sensor, the ping was obvious on the data stream. The engine noise made it hard to hear.

Can you help by using better gas, messing with the IAC,timing, putting resistors in the temp sensor circuit? Not that you want to cool the mixture with a rich condition, that would be counterproductive, but if you could keep in the range of the ox sensor, might work? What do you think Terry?
