Well as you people may already know I am trying to figure out what the best engine swap in a Fiero GT would be. I have alot of material for the 3800, Quad-4, 3.4 and of course the Chevy 350. I did find one article about a guy who was talking about a 87 3.8 swap which he had done in his Fiero. The thing I like most about this installation is that it bolts right upto the original Fiero tranny. One other thing he did was he found a Carb. intake, I believe it is made by Edelbroke for the RWD 3.8 and topped it with a 450cfm Carb. The nice thing about this is that you don't have much problems with the wiring. The only thing that I am not to crazy about is the fact that the stock motor would not be all that powerfull, maybe 150hp. I have been told that there is not much you can do to this motor, but I can't imagine that this is true. I know a better cam can be purchesed, but basically that is all I have found out. I wonder if the heads and other parts from the Turbo GN would fit on this motor. I do not want a Turbo nor Nitros on the Vehicle. I believe this will eventually kill the motor and special attention must be used when a vehicle is armed with these power goodies. I would really like to get power from the motor and not via these options. I would imagine that it would be also possible to "STROKE" this motor. I would like to get about 300-350 hp from this engine. It may cost a couple of bucks but in the long run should be cheaper then any of the other engine swaps for the Fiero. Also due to the fact that no kit would be reguired for the swap. (saving about 1500. 00 CDN.) I would use the stock auto tranny (would prefer the 5-speed but must be auto for my Girlfriend, the only way she would let me do this) which will be "Beefed-up" to handle the extra power. If anyone has any info about uping the power on this type of engine I would appreciate any help.

Spike, I think you might be under estimating the work involved in a 3.8 motor swap. From what I know, it doesn't just bolt right up. There needs to be several modifications to the engine cradle. As far as power in concerned, there doesn't seem to be a market for the performance engine parts on this motor. So you might end up screwing yourself by doing this project and not being able to purchase the parts you need for a lofty goal of 350 hp. And on a V6, 350 hp would not be very streetable. You would be much better off stroking the motor you already have and achieving a "neck snapping" 220 hp.

Are you planning on drag racing this car only? If so, than you can do whatever you want. The more exotic, the better. I guess I thought since your girlfriend would be driving it, she would use it to go shopping or something. Sorry, I was just being sexist and didn't realize it.

I think my 350hp goal is a little high. I would like to be close to 280-300hp. If these numbers are not possible then I will have to swap in a v8. I seen a Fiero with 300hp and thats what I want. It flew.
