the deck lid is held up by 2 torsion bar like springs. These are very hard to remove because of the tension. My decklid doesnt stay up either with the rear wing on. I once took the wing off and then the lid stayed up.
Ive seen strut type keep ups on a few sites made especially for the fiero. try this site:http://www.execpc.com/~rodney1/

This is a common problem with alot of these options no mater what brand car it is. (I had a 73 maverick with a factory option "spoiler" that would whack you every chance it got. My 86 caravan need both gas tubes replaced.... it won't stay up at all even w/o a wing.)

I'd agree with paul. Add an auxilary lift. If I recall you need to tell rodney if you are just boosting a week torque rod, or eliminating them comleatly. Adding the lift is both easier, and safer, than trying to remove the springs.
