Not sure I understand? This is maybe the 2nd or 3rd car thread I've had since I joined? Or am I missing something?

I believe he is saying if you start a new thread on this subject if it will get side tracked again.

Just wanted to chime in on this point, Steve (since I know you'll be trying to get the last word in at some point). He has a degree in Mechanical Engineering...he is NOT a mechanic. Those are two completely different things. Do not assume that degree gives any insight into how to fix a car. His ability to work on cars is far more likely due to his personal interests and him jumping in with both feet to work on his cars as required.

...for info...I was a diesel mechanic first...PhD in mechanical engineering now...but the two are not related...

ok...carry on...

Epic win , there are some people that I graduated with that have probably never held a screwdriver before lol.

Nitroheadz28,

Forgot to add my vote for a great car for you...I'd recommend a Jetta. My neighbour's son (23 year old engineer ) has one. High mileage, great gas consumption, and still going strong. Fun to drive too...

Just remember....common sense is the most un-common sense...

Oh yes Jetta's can be a blast. My friend has a 97 MKIII slammed on coilovers with some other suspension bits and a little cam, its very fun to drive and surprisingly capable. His has 225k and on it's second engine. It doesn't however get good mileage at all, I think he said 22 combined? That was pre cam swap as well with a refreshed engine. However if I were to go VW, I'd strongly prefer an MKIV Golf (doesn't even have to be GTI). They are nimble cars for sure.

I've really prioritized my search towards a hard top 99+ Miata, they don't seem to be coming up for sale often but I'll wait. Otherwise I'm keeping my eyes open for good deals on the other aforementioned vehicles.

this guy thinks its fun to do that.

I have not "negged" you (and don't intend to) but if you recal this thread: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum6/HTML/101722.html

I basically feel the same way for fat people as you do for handycaps. "Those people have a hard enough time in life without people who have all their faculties looking down on them or degrading them"...
