I live in MI and sold a performance rebuilt (problem free, 0 miles) 3.4 for like $700 or $800 last year. I don't see $1700 as a steal anywhere. Seems like a good $1000 too high for a second-hand engine. I think the shops were quoting $1300 to rebuild one here, and that would be with a warranty. That being said.. If you were purchasing a long block, you should only expect the block/heads. Since I am assuming that this was purchased through the internet, or a classified, why not post the original advertisement? Perhaps the gentleman selling the engine was selling a longblock with the "dirty" parts, and believed he was just a few bolts short? You say most of the parts were broken? Why not list which ones, specifically, were broken, or post pics. A lot of folks have 2.8 parts sitting around, or fairly cheap so it may be an easy fix. It's s shame you had a bad experience, but maybe you can make the best of it, and get a hold of the various parts cheaply so you can complete the project. There's a guy one here named "olejoedad" or something close to that. He does Fiero repairs here in MI, has a good reputation, and he may even have parts or be cheaper then your shop. I know "Darkhorizon", in Flint always has 2.8 stuff laying around, and I occasionally have 2.8 brackets etc. If you list what items you are having problems with, maybe someone on here will be able to assist.

As I am typing this I look directly over there (yes I realize it won't be there when my reply is up) but there are two little orange/yellow links, One says PFF Code is ON and the other says Smilies Legend or heres the direct link http://www.fiero.nl/forum/smilies.html <------
BTW I just found these a couple of weeks ago, I hope they are not too annoying in my posts

None of the stuff was broken, for one. As for dirt, Bobby and I sure didn't see any of it. I never once said all he needed was a few bolts. That is an outright lie he's come up with since everybody isn't trashing my good name like he seems to have thought they would.
I literally walked around the engine with him on the phone and told him about the 3.4l block with NEW Fiero heads installed, drilled for starter/etc. I also spent a lot of time on the phone with his mechanic, sent him many parts I didn't have to like intake/fuel rail/injectors/sensors/new water pump/etc. I even gave him a free upgrade to a 45k mile gauge cluster instead of one with 177k.
As for price, you'll have a very hard time coming across a performance rebuilt 3.4l with new heads/gauge cluster/cold air intake/Corvette fuel pump/injectors/engraved plenum/starter relocation/complete exhaust for 1,700 SHIPPED.

Btw, thanks for having my back guys. I've enjoyed being a part of this forum and meeting some of you at the Tyler Shipman show and other places. My own family doesn't stick up for me like you guys do and have in the past. Like I told Jay Shipman when he was talking about Fiero people; "You'll never find a nicer bunch of people. Not at church, not in clubs, and definitely not on the damn Internet."
Thanks guys. A lot of you are convincing me this talk about Pennock's being a family really is true.[This message has been edited by MadDanceSkillz (edited 07-30-2010).]
