Fierowrecker what you said was very intelligent and politely put. But I have turn my back on God for the simple fact that I don't believe in one anymore. I relize that is my choice and I have chosen to live it that way.

while I consider myself to be spiritual, I'm not a member of any organized religion, nor do I go to church. I have many friends who are devoted christians, I'm not trying to offend them, I'm just curious about something..

in the old testament books, god spoke to humans, interacted with them, dictated orders, punished people, his voice boomed down from the heavens etc....

why doesn't that stuff happen anymore? why doesn't god still give orders etc? did he have a change of heart, and decide to adopt some sort of biblical "prime directive" about dealing with us mere mortals?

sorry if it sounds like I'm making light of religion, I just don't understand this at all, and no one has ever offered me even a theory to answer it.
