"should the primary goal of a forum such as this not be to be inclusive of all members"?

Think, about the irony of that question, considering that some have called for outright bans on other members..

You people really are only interested in reading what you want to see.

I wrote that as a questioning statement, as in "should the goal", not "the goal" as in if Cliff wants to post in this thread saying, "no, the goal of this forum is to be exclusive of white middle class folks from Canada" then that is his prerogative. I pack up and you guys can be Canada free. I don't get the sense that he feels that way, so I'm safe for another day. Given that he himself as posted about racist rants, I *think* he's a bit more towards the "let's have an inclusive community" as opposed to "inclusive of all the colors and lifestyles we choose appropriate"

I'm adding that given that there is at least 1 openly gay member, we don't need to talk in abstracts-we can talk about specifics. Do we want a forum where a member should feel less of himself, unwanted, harassed or hated so one racist bigot can feel good about himself that he got to express his opinion?

And yes, I will go so far as to suggest banning as an option. If you can't curtail the racist and bigoted views to the point where you can have a discussion in public, then yeah, maybe banning is the way to go.

LOL. A little tool to keep in your back pocket. A "get out of racist jams free" card.

Me thinks that Stan is just very misunderstood...

Awesome. Let me drive that home for you.

Freedom of speech, and the rights to your opinion is not a weapon that you should freely use to beat people with. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you HAVE to.

Therefore, I fully believe that he is entitled to his opinion. I truly do. I also believe he is entitled to stick it up his ass and shut up on a public forum. I think that's something that anyone can do. Just because he has an opinion that is offensive to people, rude, crude and really not helpful to many conversations doesn't mean he needs to share it all the time, does it?

I have to jump in here and say that I respect Stan. He fought for my/our country. I have to give him that.
I'm taken aback by - and disagree with - some of the things that he says, but I also recognize that that's his opinion.
He's not tactful, but you know where he stands. Fair enough. I'll take honesty instead of tact any day of the week.

What I find of great interest is that he has an uncanny perception of how this world works.
He correctly predicted any number of events that are now old news, but at the time those predictions had people scratching their heads.
So yeah. Stan may be off the wall at times, but hes right on the mark at other times.
And usually he's funny as hell.

Edit - He writing is a bit difficult to understand, but if you can wrap your mind around the writing style, you'll understand.
It's consistent, if nothing else.

Agree completely. It is really quite easy to not read a post if you think it will bother you

You have to give Stan credit for the most eye-popping thread title though.

"Atheist queers" - It's award winning. I would guess it's open season now on thread titles.

It's also easy to ignore criticism in response to someone else's posts. If someone making a reply of outrage, disgust, or plain eye-rolling "I cannot believe any human being could possibly be this stupid" bothers you, you also should not read the replies.

It's also easy to ignore the criticism of someone's criticism, of someone else's criticism in a response. If you don't want to read it, that is.

Hah...
