I think Shauns public reactions to this are totally out of character for him, especialy if he wasn't involved.
If I had to guess, I would say he was involved and is simply afraid to admit it right now due to all of the comments going on about suing and such. His quiet demeanor about the whole thing is just not Shaun like, if you know what I mean.

Conforming to the Original topic, I have a few words out of the few things I actually post on here.

There are always going to be things you like, and dislike on forums. I've moderated and Admin'd on a few myself, and am a member of many. There are going to be policies that you will agree, or disagree with, and there will be people that you will like, or dislike.

IT IS THE SAME ON ANY FORUM.

And there are always going to be people trying to pick fights.

This is what I have to say on both forums.

I believe that the Self-Moderating ratings bar on Pennocks is a good Idea in theory but is based on a system that has no rules to discipline, or ban people by. It's an easy system to abuse.

I also believe that RFT is a direct, natural result of a Pennocks banning system that has no rules. A system like Pennocks has creates an environment which allows members " to gang up" on eachother... It discourages freedom of opinion if yours doesn't line up with the latest Fiero guru. The Pennocks rating system is the reason things escalate to such high proportions in flame wars, because there is goading, and then attacking on each sides of the coin. I bet you, that even people who are un-involved in such wars, will fly around rating other members based on what side they take. It's a system of distrust.

People wonder why that is? We all know there are trash talkers on both sides... The only thing that would be different if this forum was moderated seperately, is that no matter what side you're on, if you say something to someone that is in violation with forum policy, you would be dealt with according to the rules.

A forum that is Moderated with a policy and discipline structure in place is BY FAR the most effective, and fair way in which to take care of troublemakers. I don't believe that is completely done effectively on RFT either, because the origins the forum comes from. I think that there are a few that need to learn HOW to argue, and how to say things without upsetting people, on both sides of the coin.

I am not saying this to usher in a new era of change, but I am saying that if you don't like it here, go over there. If you don't like it there, go over here.

If you don't like it in either place, then start your own forum.

I personally browse both sites because I can't get enough Fiero. I've been on Pennocks for almost five years now... but they both feed that need!

I choose option C.
Believe it or not there are some rules on RFT. It isn't the wild west it used to be when it first started. Over there you get what you dish out. If you treat people with respect they will respect you also, the same goes with flamming. If you want to pass of some BS as fact, be prepared to be called out. Even Shaun get's called out for some of the stuff he tries to pass as factual without proof.
The bottom line is people shouldn't judge a forum because of a handful of rotten apples, if they did even PFF would be considered a "sewer" as it has it's share of unsavory characters too.

Look... I agree that this shouldn't refllect on the greatest majority of folks over there, but the fact is, it was perpetrated because of an ongoing rivalry between Cliff and PFF, and RFT. Yet another chapter.

That's the point that I've been trying to make for months. If they (Howard and the people who really want RFT to succeed) really want to have a legitimate forum, they'll put the morons and troublemakers on a short leash, and they'll lose the "RFT vs the World" section. (Of course we all know who "the world" is, don't we!)

Make a deal with you... When all four of the people who did this kwrap are banned from RFT - have their accounts deleted and are never allowed to return - I'll retract my post and delete my link.
Hell... I'll even offer an apology.

I won't be holding my breath.


Interesting how things appear to be working out. Quite.
