How much for just the two transmission mounts for a STOCK 87GT 5 speed?

ive got poly mounts on EVERYTHING but the transmission, it already bucks like crazy at low speeds, but i do like the fact that when i give it gas, it jerks the hell outta ya, and it goes!

Well that is something you have for sure.

Sweet! Now if someone will offer prefabbed wiring harnesses, that makes the 3800SC that much more desireable.

GREAT!!!
Will the motor mount work for an 88 craddle?

Hard ot believe yours would of folded as soon as the engine was mounted. I would of loved to see a picture of that. I had to remove my WCF mounts to lower my engine for the intercooler. I am now running stock rubber motor mounts with even more horsepower with the intercooler. They are holding up perfectly for the past year. Knock on wood.

The very fact that you had to remove them to lower your engine back to the stock height illustrates these mounts flaws.... they are marketed as a direct replacement so they should be the same height as stock once installed, bar none... and a proper engineer would note that poly flexes less than rubber once loaded and take that into account in designing the mounts, but the height problem was the easiest to fix. I have pictures comming of all the flaws present in my WCF mounts... just have to wait to get this dang scanner working :S

You ran them but how hard did you run your car the two years they were on there? How many times have you taken your car to the track an put some hard laucnches on it? These are all factors that could have caused the engine mounts to fail for Purple, while your are still looking new. I would lean more toward them being poor quality considering all the other issues that ppl have had with there products and services. You cant really compare how well your WCF mounts held up to Purples WCF mounts for the simple fact that your car is not driven hard( this statement being based on that I have never seen you post a 1/4 mile time as long as I have been on the Forum) it would be like comparing apples to oranges. This is just how I viewed your responce to the douting of Purples post of the WCF mounts folding over.

Not trying to stir the stink but how Ski drove his has nothing to do with the problem Purple explained he said " folded over like a paper clip as soon as motor was mounted."
Anyways I am needing mounts for the series 2 im working on and one of the things i was worried was the height issue I have heard about WCF's because at some point I would like to add the intercooler. Purple does yours also mount the engine too high for clearance of an Intercooler? or will it leave it in lower postion closer to where the factory mounts would be?

Thanks for exactly picking up on my point. MstangsBware was not so quick on that one. I will be the first to admit I do not abuse my car as hard as Purple. Course I have smoked off one set of tires in under 3000 miles and those that have ridden with me can attest I do not baby this car. WCF mounts are fine. They will hold up to anything you throw at them. Especially setting an engine down on them. Seems Purple is just trying to make the point his mounts are better. Maybe they are, maybe they are not. I sure would of loved to see pictures of the damage he described.

As far as the height of the WCF motor mounts. The front pulley mount is the same height as the stock 88 mount. The transmission mounts caused the trans end to raise about 1/2 inch. Almost nobody would ever notice that amount. However I was the first to put a 2 1/4 inch intercooler under a stock Fiero trunklid and every 1/4 inch was important. I also really disliked the bucking the poly mounts created. The car drives so much better in the stock rubber mounts. No I am not building a drag 1/4 mile Fiero which is the goal of some on the forum. I just want a fast powerful nice driving Fiero.

I would not have a problem buying mounts from Purple and I appreciate his venture in providing Fiero parts. Just wish he would do it without trashing other vendors.

Can't say much about the height issue, but I had to re-drill one of the mounts, and monkey around with them a LOT to get the engine to fit into them right.. WCF mounts that is.. They didn't fold over, but the quality was a bit lacking. The paint looked / smelled like Rustoleum black, and chipped easily. I also had to drill out 2 of the bushing sleeves to use bigger through-bolts, there was way too much slop with the too-small bolts, and bigger ones just barely didn't fit. The 3rd mount's sleeve was good though...??? Odd. After I had the cradle and the mounts coated with spray-on bedliner they look sort-of like stock mounts. Just with red Poly in them. Can't wait to test them on the track! Way to go Purple, those things look BEEFY.
