Granted I have only bought about 15 engines in my life from builders and from GM direct... maybe a car dealer has a special phone line where they can get a complete engine assembly ready for install.. I cant find that part number let alone a supplier that has them.

You can not order a crate engine from GM, without ordering other parts with it, by any means, and have a drop-in engine for a swap, with the exception of maybe a carbed race crate motor. But I think then, you still need to buy the right flywheel for your application.

$1700 shipped is more than a fair price. When I built my 3.4L It cost me around $1500 or so to rebuild the long block. He also shipped it, which most likely went freight due to weight. ( I would guess $300-$350 to ship)

I think the real problem is he went to a muffler shop that is inexperienced with the work required to properly do a 3.4L swap into a Fiero. The shop most likely realized they took on a job that is above their skill set and is now making excuses that they have broken, bad, dirty parts. So the OP believes the shop instead of the many Fiero enthusiasts who tried to explain it to him. I really think the OP is going to need a lawyer, Not for MadDanceSkillz but for the muffler shop. I have seen situations like this before where a shop takes on work they cannot do correctly, making excuses, charging extra money for shoddy work, and it usually ends up with the customer getting back a vehicle that is trashed.

While the OP is banned, If he is still reading this, My advice is to get your parts and car back from the muffler shop and contact local Fiero folks who are knowledgeable and have already offered to assist you in completing the swap. At the very least have the muffler shop go to this website: http://fiero34swap.eleventenths.org/

Wow, 6 pages in less than a day. Some people just shouldn't own a Fiero.

He is going to have a hard time at that. I have done 2, fiero 3.4 swaps and I have zero interest in helping this guy. He has shown a lot of people his true colors. I wont help a guy that flies off the handle... I have no interest in dealing with his drama first hand.

I had offered to install the engine in his car, swap the wiring harness, ecm, cooling hoses, etc. for $600 just because I needed the work at the time. This was all before he even bought the engine from david. All he would have had to do was trailer the car down to indy and he would have had his car 1 week later in perfect running condition. Now he's gonna end up paying that shop $2000+ and probably even more in attorney fees that will get him no-where. But hey, I don't feel bad because I know I tried to help the guy out.

Dammit I keep posting stuff under my wifes account!!

Indeed. But don't be an ass about it.
With few exceptions, Fiero people - especially the folks on this forum - are some of the most generous people I've ever seen.
They also know these cars inside out and frontwards and backwards.
But they don't put up with kwrap and attitude. Ass-holiness will get you exactly nowhere.

You can buy a crate turn key motor.
I worked at a Chevy dealer and had a brand new Corvette with metal in the oil pan. Called up the factory, pulled a new engine from the line and sent it over. This thing had everything ready to go. Hook up the computer, fuel, and exhaust, then fire it up. The plug wires, air cleaner, EVERYTHING was there. It was a tad more than $1700, so I don't think this guy knew what a true long block is...Block and heads. Period.

BTW, that drop in 5.7 was around $15K

Heck I took my wife's 3000GT to a "Mechanic" that could run all of the diagnostic tests to find out what's being reported wrong in the ABS and SRS system. After he had the car a week my bill was $400 I asked for the codes retrieved, so he tells me he got a code 12 and didn't know what it means. Ummm you idiot you scanned the Engine which I knew there wasn't anything wrong. I reminded him that he told me he could do the scans before I agreed to leave it with him. I gave him $20 for his efforts and told him he could try to get the rest, but remember I have a freedom of speech too.

This guy was a "General" mechanic that a friend of his told me he was the best in town, if that's true I'm better off doing it all myself.

Maybe the muffler shop is mad because the car doesn't have an engine in it already.... MADANCE did you also tell them the engine is in the back?
