Of all that was in this thread, this was the first to make me actually laugh out loud.

And unless he's really well off, or a liar, I don't think he's young. Tomd42 said "I donate time to little league boxing here in GR since I retired." But then again, not a lot of retired people use text speak, so I donno. Unless he meant retired from the military?

Where are you people getting rebuilt engines from for a grand or less? When I was looking for a 302 for my van, the best price I got was around 3k, closer to 5 with labor.... I seriously want to know. Granted I could get a used, non rebuilt for much much less, but I didn't want to go that route.

Doesnt one have an opportunity to represent and defend oneself? It almost sounds like the way things are being handled with the current administration in the white house.

He was defending him self with rudeness, threats and stupidity. He deserved to be banned and rid this respected forum of his nonsense.
It's a shame that he actually owns a Fiero. What a waste.

Group raid anyone?

Yea, one minute he said he was retired, and a few posts later he said something happened while he was at school.... Me things maybe he is 30 years old or so, and still in middle school

It's that... or heaven forbid he is a teacher!

Sorry faaaaaaq, nothing personal. With the font on here, I always thought it was a "g"

Oh, I am totally convinced now that the engine was received exactly as he stated. Him mechanic sent me a picture taken with his camera. Looks convincing enough to be used in his court case!

without getting involved, by judging what has gone on and said so far.
tomd42 seems to be getting boned by his "muffler mechanics" who seem to be second guessing (that is just my jugdement)
instead of dissing anyone its better to have a good think on what was actually explained to you before you made any purchase, so that you are totally aware of what you are buying.
if you are then having any trouble you can have many choices of direction - Id prefer to ask the seller who has many years of fiero experience - probably more than a general mechanic (not dissing general mechanics) for advice.

also ask on the forum - there is many build ups on the construction pages etc to give you an idea

next thing to consider - what ever has gone wrong with fieros and engines has all been done before, guaranteed you will get the answers here

also you may have the haynes manual etc etc but if you ask there is sometimes a quicker and easier way to do the job than using the manual.

never try to diss a member who has much much more experience than yourself

Woah woah... I AM from here and I know for a fact that you can not walk into any car shop and buy a "long block" and get a complete ready to go engine.

In fact you can not buy a complete ready to go engine at all. you have to buy a long block, intake, headers, valve covers, all the brackets and accessories, fuel injectors, etc... Not even a race crate engine comes 100% complete. Granted I have only bought about 15 engines in my life from builders and from GM direct... maybe a car dealer has a special phone line where they can get a complete engine assembly ready for install.. I cant find that part number let alone a supplier that has them.

It is very important that when you say "long block" you understand what you are asking for and the other person knows what you are asking for. This requires a lot of research online and in books. It is not the fault of the seller if the buyer does not understand the terminology.

EDIT: Just read where he is having it done.. There is not a single mechanic in BIG RAPIDS that can do a fiero swap let alone what looks like an advanced 3.4 swap that even changes the ECM and wiring harness. I lived in Big Rapids, a tiny speck of a town that is about 70 miles north of Grand Rapids, for a few years... I know quite well the businesses up there and their abilities..

you should have found a ricer kid to do it in the parking lot, Up there they know way more about cars than the local mechanics at the shops.. Your "mechanic" is in way over his head and will simply milk your wallet dry. Wait for the storage fees to start piling up as well.
