Well, this confuses the heck out of me. I am not Catholic so, I'm just guessing here but if I'm interpreting the above quote, you attended a Catholic school or have received all the required Catholic training which "qualifies" you as a "confirmed" Catholic? But apparently no longer subscribe to the Catholic teachings. I would assume from reading your posts that you do not attend Mass and have rejected any teachings that reflect a belief in God, higher power or Deity. Does that about cover it?

A "Cafeteria Catholic," in which you can choose the Church doctrines that you like and leave the ones you don't like under the sneeze guard.
This is my wife's term. She's Catholic, I am a member of a Baptist church.

Confirmation is a sacrament in catholic church like communion, last rights, holy matrimony, reconciliation, holy orders and baptism. It indicates how far along in the progression you have traveled. And you are right on about the schooling and rejection. But it wasn't just church ( both in the pews and as an altar boy for a decade ) and school. I also attended CCD ( bible study) and extended biblical classes to receive confirmation and even youth groups every tuesday. Most christians erroneously think because you don't believe you must not know anything about christianity.

How is that working out for you guys? Tuff, at times?
My biggest question about that would be, do you both believe in the same God, and agree on what his words mean? Or does each of those religions translate the meaning of his word differently?[This message has been edited by Boondawg (edited 06-02-2009).]

Yes, we believe in the same God and the same Christ. She is entirely behind the kids in the nondenominational Christian school that they are in (even though we could put them in a Catholic school for about a third of the cost).
She has her moments, and I have to be careful about how I present certain concepts. She has no problem with confession directly to God and not through a priest, and understands, if intellectually, that A) some Saints - such as Christopher - probably didn't exist and that B) by virtue of faith in the finished work in Christ, we are Saints, even if the Church hasn't bestowed that title on us (See 1 Corinthians 1), and that Mary's conception was no different than yours or mine. If I'm not careful, she gets mad at me.
She is a lifelong Catholic, Irish, to boot (hence the temper). I have been saved - a Messianic Jew - for 25 years and nearly a month. I tend to be a little more dogmatic, while she tempers me (there's that Irish temper again). We'll have been heterosexually wed for 16 years this September.

Not sure which way you're arguing, but she understands and accepts sola scriptura; she's (IMO) been Catholic for (a few. More than three, less than five) decades.

The point I was trying to make is that Mary conception was NOT like yours or mine.
