Dezie, I am really curious now!!! I don't know how things work over there, but I remember in a previous thread of yours, that your are "renting to buy". It is NONE of my business, I know, but how do you make ends meet? You say you don't have a career, yet you are paying college students to do your garden, and planning to get in Landscapers, and put up new sidings, and buy a Smartcar..tell me your secret!!! Does your Fiancee have a job? It must cost a packet to have the pets you do, and vet bills are notoriously high now. If you can juggle all these expenses, and still be solvent, you should apply for a job with GWB, running the country's finances!!! Seriously, tell me how you do it..it gets harder every day, the World over, including here in Spain!!
Nick

I believe in another thread he did say his GF does have a job. I don't remember exactly what kind of work she does.

She’s gainfully employed, she has 2 jobs, she models part time and she’s an IT specialist. Her income alone is over 60k a year. I myself am trying to figure out what I want out of life... I thought it was auto tech... and I was wrong... I’m thinking a Business Management degree... but my first love will always be photography... it just sucks that the industry has changed so and the days of the dark room are over.
Except in my basement where I have a fully operational B&W darkroom... I even have one of those really cool rotating doors that never allow out side light in.

You see the economy only works if you keep spending… that’s why Sara and I spend so much money on so many things… if we don’t keep buying there wont be any money for others to spend… we both have jobs that aren’t going anywhere, so we save about 10% of our incomes… and pay the bills… but we spend the rest… we eat out, go to movies.

If every one thought the way we did, the economy wouldn’t be in the slump its in… We’re doing our part…are you?

Thanks for the clarification!! It was just idle curiousity! Just don't forget, or at least realise, we get old quickly!! It seems like only 10 years ago that I was at your age, but it flew past..and I regret not saving sooner than I did!! You see, the problem is when you don't save until your later years, you then seem to be saving to pay future bills, adn not future security. When I look at all my friends who did save money, they are mostly in a better position for their old age than I, and the the same applies to friends who did the same as me. If you don't have a problem with working until the day you die, then it will be ok...providing your body will LET you do so!! ( and Society will permit you to keep your job!! There are always younger folk wanting your job)

Nope, my Econ teacher in HS told me this... and if you use your brain it makes perfect sense.

For example... if every one stops buying cars then the car manufactures don’t make a profit... if they don’t make a profit they cant pay their employees... so they fire employees... those employees no longer have an income so they cant buy cars from the car manufactures thus hurting the companies profits even more, so they have to lay more people off.

Do you get where I’m going with this? This example can be applied to all businesses... video stores, grocery stores, computer stores, restaurants... ext.

That’s why Bush gave us our tax refunds early a couple years back (300 bucks yahoo)… his plan was to jumpstart the economy by giving us extra money to spend… duh!

I'd rather convince everyone else to spend and save my money. Maybe that's what your teacher was trying to do?
